Tyler Joseph is literally the most precious human being, he spent at least 40% of the concert last night having the crowd cheer for Josh and then he stopped between songs and started talking about how amazing it felt for them to be there because when their managers suggested them playing at Red Rocks they were both like “no way, there’s no way we’re big enough to pull that off” and he was telling us he was terrified that nobody would show up and that he had nightmares about booking a show and then having nobody show up and it was honestly the sweetest thing, that you can see how humble this band is despite how many fans they have. It’s amazing.
to add to your post, i got the amazing opportunity to intern at the theatre twenty one pilots were playing at, which usually means we do menial tasks like getting water or sweeping. one of our tasks was to get the skid marks off of their mats. my friend and i were on our hands and knees scrubbing the floor with ripped tshirts and simplegreen, and it took us so long to get each skid off.
josh and tyler were doing soundcheck and once they were done tyler wandered over to where we were scrubbing, he said “hey thank you guys so much for doing this” to which we responded “we don’t mind, this is our job, not to mention we’re huge fans”
tyler, hand in his pocket and holding a coffee, says “well i’m your guys’ biggest fan for doing this because you’re going to make us look beautiful tonight.”
i was shocked and flattered, and covered in skid grease. i figured tyler would then do the usual celebrity thing where they nod and tell you it was nice to meet you. i kept at my work, so as not to stare.
scrubbing the floor, i see a figure crouch down next to me and assume it is my fellow intern, but no, it is tyler joseph, brandishing one of my extra tshirt scraps, scrubbing at the skids.
the next few moments were a blur, because i couldn’t really process what was happening. he helped for a good five minutes, and at one point he even started apologizing because he thought he messed something up.
he was so sweet. he saw i had the same thumbs and touched his thumbs to mine and gave me tips on how to play the ukulele. if i wasnt sure that twenty one pilots was my favorite band then, i am now.
BRB IM CRYING.
